Microlight Flights Berkshire

Fun and affordable microlighting in Berkshire! This small and friendly club offers a choice of microlight flight options out of Membury Airfield. Easy to get to from all over Berkshire and beyond this is a great place to take your first flight in an microlight aircraft. Membury was a busy USAAF and later RAF station. Once the war was over the airfield was privatised and much of the land turned back to agricultural use but there was still a thriving General Aviation scene and that remains today at this strategically-positioned airfield between Reading and Swindon. It’s an amazing place to fly in a microlight from. As soon as you’re airborne it’s quite a view. You’ll spot where the original WW2 runways were and you’ll realise just how close Membury Airfield is to the M4 and the services of the same name. Then there are the fields of solar panels glistening below you in the sunshine. And not forgetting that you’re in the North Wessex Downs with the likes of Lambourn Woodlands easily spotted.Flights are operated using an Ikarus C42 closed-cockpit microlight. These latest-generation fixed wing microlights have the equivalent performance of a typical Cessna training aircraft but with much lower running costs. You’d be amazed how far you can fly on just one tank of fuel! Indeed even on a 30-minute flight you can easily cover around 40 miles when cruising at around 70 knots at between 1500 and 2000ft. The Ikarus is certainly an impressive microlight and all the instructors here in Berkshire love flying this plane. It’s modern designed and easy to fly yet full of character – right down to the gull wing doors! We are offering 30 60 and a full day’s microlighting at Berkshire’s Membury Airfield for you. All options include a pre-flight briefing and the chance to fly the aircraft yourself. If you’re really into your flying we can highly recommend the full day training course. It gives you a really good insight into life at the club with three 45-minute flights spread across the day. And of course time spent in the air will count towards your licence if you carry on with your training.
